Garden for Wildlife: Plant With a Purpose
The way we plant shapes the world around us.
At Garden for Wildlife™, we believe native plants hold the key to a vibrant future for both wildlife and ourselves. But finding the right native plants for your unique space can be a daunting task because most marketplaces prioritize ornamental species, not those vital for supporting pollinators, birds, and butterflies. We're here to change that.
Unleashing the Power of Native Plants
Our story begins in 1973, when the National Wildlife Federation's Garden for Wildlife™ program ignited a nationwide movement. Since then, millions of Americans have joined forces, creating over 300,000 Certified Wildlife Habitats® and providing critical food, water, cover, and shelter for countless species.
Today, Garden for Wildlife, Inc. is a for-profit company, primarily owned by the National Wildlife Federation. Our goal is to create 1,000,000 Certified Wildlife Habitats® by 2030. To reach that goal, we offer scientifically-backed, sustainably grown native plants that not only beautify landscapes but also create habitats where wildlife can thrive.
Our mission is to ignite a nationwide revolution in backyard habitats, empowering individuals to become champions for biodiversity.
What We Do
Native Plants
We're solving the challenge of finding and buying native plants. Our sustainably-grown native plants are backed by science to help wildlife species.
Expert Guidance
We're raising awareness of the power of native plants through our Learning Center, featuring guides for everyone from beginners to seasoned gardeners.
Fundraisers
We're making raising funds as easy as growing native plants! Sell native plants to raise funds for your local school or non-profit community organization.
Partnered with Nature, Powered by Science
Through extensive research and partnerships, we've curated online plant collections specifically tailored to your region. These collections, meticulously crafted by our team of experts, are designed to attract and support butterflies, moths, native bees, and the birds that depend on them.
Our expertise is rooted in science. We collaborate with esteemed scientists like Dr. Doug Tallamy, whose research identified "Keystone" plants essential for sustaining 90% of butterfly and moth species. This knowledge guides our plant collection curation.
Chemical-Free, Sustainably-Grown
We prioritize the health of both our customers and the environment, ensuring that our native plants are free from harmful chemicals.
Absolutely no neonicotinoids, a class of insecticides that are chemically similar to nicotine, are used at the facilities where the Garden for Wildlife line of plants are grown.
Our community has planted over
