For over 30 years, I've been whispering sweet nothings to plants—and miraculously, they've never talked back! Unlike people, I've never met a plant I didn't like. My city garden is proof that you don't need sprawling acreage to harvest the unusual; who else do you know grows cotton, peanuts, tobacco, edamame, rainbow chard, and birdhouse gourds in just six raised beds? Yes, you heard that right. I replant my tiny patches of paradise two or three times a year, making every inch count.
